Summer Sizzle

By Lisa Shanken | Healthy Living

With summer now in full swing (and especially if social distancing is keeping you at home more), it's a great time to dive into seasonal fruits, fresh vegetables, and of course... grilling!

As you enjoy fresh and seasonal cuisine, here are some "natural medicine" bonuses you'll benefit from:

  • Improve or maintain your gut health with gut-healthy foods like lemons and limes; garlic, dark leafy greens, berries and mangos; coconut; wild fish; whole grains, and more!
  • A healthy gut leads to a strong immune system, which is obviously more important now than ever.
  • With quick-prep recipes like those I've shared below (~5 ingredients), you won't have to slave away in the kitchen.

So let's get to it!

Mouth-Watering Appetizers

Mint Watermelon Salad
Grilled Vegetable Salad
Asian Slaw

Delicious Main Courses

Grilled Trout With Avocado Dressing
Chicken Artichoke Zucchini Boats
Simply Grilled Salmon

Tasty Sides

Tangy Green Beans
Grilled Sweet Potatoes
Quinoa Pilaf

Consider doubling the recipes so you'll have meals for multiple nights. Just make sure to store the other half before you start eating so you're not doubling up on your intake!

I'd love to hear from you, so please tell me which recipes you liked best, or share some of your own... Perhaps I'll feature them (with credit to you of course) in next month's Don't Get Your Gut In A Rut newsletter.

Have a happy, healthy day!
