Barbecue Rubbed Tofu
Ingredients
- 1 package firm tofu
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili pepper flakes
- 1 tbps Extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat barbecue to medium heat.
- Remove tofu from packaging and wrap tightly in paper towels to drain excess moisture. Allow it to sit in paper towels for 5-10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine all spices in a bowl and mix with olive oil.
- Remove tofu from paper towels and slice into 1/4 inch slices the long way (lengthwise).
- Brush half of mixture onto tofu slices and then place on barbecue (use a non-stick grilling mat so tofu doesn't stick to grill grates or oil the grates before putting the tofu on the grill). Barbecue for about 3 minutes on medium high heat, and then turn and brush the other side of the tofu and cook for 3 more minutes.
- Remove from grill, let sit for 2 minutes, and then serve immediately.
