Beyond Good Handwashing – Guarding Against Coronavirus

Happy almost spring!

By now you’ve all seen media coverage of COVID-19, the disease caused by the recent novel coronavirus outbreak. And you’ve likely been bombarded with precautionary tips, most of which are valuable (e.g. “proper hand washing), while others are downright misleading (e.g. “It’s ok to go to work if you’re infected”).

However, Bill Maher voiced the exact thought going through my mind on his recent show (paraphrased):

Why aren't more people talking about building our own immune strength from the inside to help protect ourselves from the illness?

While COVID-10 spreads contagiously through the air and personal contact, we still have our own choices when it comes to building our immune strength to ideally limit the severity of symptoms.

How?

By decreasing your sugar intake, exercising more, making better dietary choices, exploring immunity building supplements, and caring for your gut health.

As you’ve no doubt heard, other tips like 20 second hand washing, coughing and sneezing into your arm, and not touching your face are also vitally important in limiting the virus’ spread.

As one of my readers, you know that our gut, also known as our Enteric Nervous System (aka second brain) is largely responsible for the strength of our immune system and ability to fight off illness.

So today, I bring to you an in-depth article by David Jockers. While not all of his content resonates with me (e.g. his religious demagoguery), he is Functional Nutrition certified and shares good health-centric information.

As you read it, you may recognize his suggestions from other gut health content you’ve seen in the past... which is no coincidence.

So I encourage you to read this richly informative article, and please reply with any questions you may have.

Consistency and proper implementation of your wellness regimen are the keys to your success. But as a health professional who has worked with hundreds of clients, I know they can be very challenging.
